A heart lost in love, a soul trapped in torment.
At the bitter end of an illicit affair that took place in this 18th century pub, the love was not the only thing that died.
The Flask was the site of a sordid affair between a pub maidservant and a patron. A passionate, forbidden relationship ended in disaster when one lover could no longer stand the secrecy of the fling. The maidservant took her own life in the grip of despair. Some believe her haunting is connected to a bullet lodged firmly in the wall of the snug bar, just to the right of the entrance.
When her ghost visits there is a cooling of the air, so it’s easiest to spot her on a warm summer evening. Lights will sway and glasses move, or you may feel her breath on your neck. But don’t be too alarmed, she isn’t waiting for you.
